Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has been named a co-host of Fox News’ "Outnumbered," putting one of the most prominent faces of the Trump administration at the heart of the network’s midday lineup.
McEnany, President Donald Trump’s White House press secretary from April 2020 until last January, will host "Outnumbered" beginning April 6, joining the show’s founding anchor Harris Faulkner and co-host Emily Compagno, according to a news release from the network. McEnany, who also served as a press secretary and senior adviser to the Trump’s 2020 campaign, joined Fox News as a contributor after the former president left office.
“I am thrilled to join the incredible women of Outnumbered and look forward to working alongside the talented Harris Faulkner and Emily Compagno as we discuss the top issues impacting the country,” McEnany said in the release.
The early afternoon show, named for its format that features regular female panelists plus a rotating male guest, is the most-watched cable news show in its time slot, Fox News said. The hourlong show airs weekdays at noon and is preceded by another hourlong program hosted by Faulkner, "The Faulker Focus."
McEnany emerged as one of the most prominent public faces of both the Trump administration and campaign, especially through the pandemic that hampered the former president as he sought reelection last year. The former press secretary, who said in 2015 that Trump wasn’t a "serious candidate" for president, later became a paid CNN contributor and then a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee before joining the Trump campaign and White House.
As press secretary, McEnany resumed the practice of holding press briefings after more than 400 days without one at the Trump White House. In wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, McEnany tried to distance the Trump administration from the attempted insurrection despite Trump’s calls for supporters to move on the Capitol to block the certification of President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory.
As a contributor on Fox, McEnany has remained a staunch defender of Trump and his administration.
